Greater London Hotel
The Greater London Hotel owes its name to the tourism fashion that started in Europe in the 18th century. The first tourists of the West, the British, began traveling to Switzerland and the “riviera” in the 1700s and the first magnificent hotels opened in these countries were named after the British.
In the late 19th century, when the famous “Orient Express” arrived in Istanbul, the city became a favorite destination for tourists curious about the East. The first hotels begin to line up in Tepebaşı, one of the most popular areas of Beyoğlu, and one of them takes the name “London Hotel” or “Grand Hotel De Londres”.
