Avşa Island

Avşa is an island in the Marmara Sea. It's located 2.5 hours away from Istanbul by sea bus and 1 hour 50 minutes away from Erdek by ship. It belongs to the district of Marmara in Balıkesir, 11 km away from the district center and 155 km from the provincial center. Avşa, also known as "Türkeli," holds a significant area among the archipelagos, following Marmara and Paşalimanı islands. It measures 7 km in length and 4 km in width. In 1965, the island had a population of 1146, but unofficially holds around 2500 residents now. During the bustling tourism season in summer, Avşa hosts between 90,000 to 100,000 people. The island offers various entertainment and leisure activities. During summer, it has daily scheduled sea bus services from Istanbul (2-3 trips) and ship services by IDO, with additional weekend trips.
