In 1965, the island had a population of 1146, but unofficially holds around 2500 residents now. During the bustling tourism season in summer, Avşa hosts between 90,000 to 100,000 people. The island offers various entertainment and leisure activities. During summer, it has daily scheduled sea bus services from Istanbul (2-3 trips) and ship services by IDO, with additional weekend trips.
