Cıfıt Castle Island

Çıfıtkalesi Island (literally “Jewish Castle Island”) is an uninhabited island in the Aegean Sea in Turkey.

The islet is administratively part of the Seferihisar district of Izmir province. It is very close to the mainland (Anatolia); the closest point to the mainland is less than 100 meters (330 ft). The longest dimension of the islet is about 250 meters (820 ft). In ancient times the island was connected to the mainland and was called Myonessus (Ancient Greek: Μυόνννησος, meaning mouse island). It is now disconnected, but the sea level is shallow and it is possible to reach the island on foot. Parts of the defense wall are preserved on the island.
