Hoynat Island Bird Sanctuary

It is located in the town of Persembe, off the Ramadan District, right next to the Hoynat Tunnel. It is estimated that sailors used it as a warehouse and shelter in ancient times. There is a small castle ruins from the Middle Ages on it.

It has been declared an "Important Bird Area" by the Nature Association of Turkey, as it is the only area where crested cormorants live in Turkey.
