Çalı Lake
Located within the borders of Kars province, Çalı Lake is among the important natural beauties of the city. A biodiversity research project was carried out in 2012 on the 481-hectare area of the lake, and protection zones were determined.
Kars – Digor highway divides the lake into two parts. 205 different plant species have been identified in the lake, which has an average height of 2300 meters. 5 species of these plants are endemic. In addition to its plant diversity, the region is home to 2 species of amphibians, 6 species of reptiles, 114 species of birds and 14 species of mammals. Çalı Lake is the breeding ground of the ducktail.
