Efteni Lake

Efteni Lake is at the nodal point of an ecological network where the stream network of Düzce Plain meets and flows into the Black Sea via Büyük Melen channel, at the foot of the Elmacık Mountain range. Efteni Lake, located within the borders of Gölyaka of Düzce, is 5 km from the town center and 25 km from the center of Düzce. Efteni Lake and its surroundings, with its rich vegetation and water resources, is one of the important and rare centers on the migration route of migratory birds. In 1992, the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, with the aim of protecting game and wild animals, securing the migration routes of migratory species, protecting and improving their habitats, taking remedial measures, providing shelter, nutrition and suitable living conditions. It is protected and hunting is prohibited. Efteni Lake is suitable for bird and plant watching.
