Hafik Lake

Hafik Lake, located 3 km northwest of the Hafik district of Sivas province, is mostly known as the Great Lake. It is a karstic lake, which is a name given to lakes with soluble rocks. It is called the Great Lake because there are many large and small lakes in the region and Hafik Lake is the largest lake in the region. The lake is fed from Sultanpınarı and Kapaklı springs. In addition, water is collected by boiling on the lake floor. Hafik Lake has the characteristics of an open basin because it has a river known as the village river and where the lake water connects to the Kızılırmak.
