Taşkısığı Lake

Taşkısığı Lake (Çaltıcak Lake) is a lake located within the borders of Adapazarı district of Sakarya province. The waters of the lake, which has a surface area of 90 hectares, are fresh. The distance to the center is 15 km and the altitude is 15 meters. The lake is fed from bottom sources. It has been protected as a wetland by the Ministry of Forestry. Taşkısığı Lake, which has an area of 444 hectares, was taken under protection on 30.12.2022. Taşkısığı neighborhoods are located in the south of the lake, and Çaltıcak neighborhoods are located in the north. For this reason, it is known by the names of both villages. Enkapower Adapazarı-Gebze Combined Cycle Power Plants are located by the lake. Taşkısığı Lake is located 5 km northwest of Poyrazlar Lake, 2 km west of Küçük Akgöl. Lake waters recede in summer and expand in winter. This lake has fresh water feature. It is home to many types of fish. Various events are held. Angling is especially common. It is important for the immediate environment in terms of nature tourism, picnics and amateur fishing. Tench, pike, freshwater perch, catfish, wood, mirror carp, silver crucian carp, rudd, burbot, carp and crayfish are caught from the lake. The name of the lake comes from the villages of Taşkısığı and Çatlıcak located around it. The quarries and lime factories around this lake have been operating for many years. Since the waste generated by these factories caused pollution of the lake, this lake is now under protection.
