Tödürge Lake

Tödürge Lake is a naturally formed lake in Sivas. The lake is between Hafik and Zara districts. It is located 17 km east of Hafik and 12 km west of Zara. It is on the 50th kilometer of Sivas - Erzurum highway. The surface of the lake is 350 ha, the deepest point is 44.5 meters and the average depth is 2-3 meters. It is fed by the sources at the bottom and the streams coming from the environment. The main streams feeding the lake are Kangal Stream and Tecer Water. 1 km south of the lake is the village of Tödürge. Many birds come to this lake to hunt fish. The area of the lake is about 5 square kilometers and its height above sea level is 1295 meters. It is the biggest lake of Sivas and there are two islands in it. In most of the lake, the depth is between 4-10 meters. The water of the lake, which is fed both from the springs at the bottom and from the waters in the region, is calcareous and salty. It is one of the rare lakes where 17 kinds of fish are grown. Some of the birds that can be watched around Tödürge Lake are as follows; Crested Grebe, Red-necked Grebe, Stork, Angut, Blackbird, Blackbird, Sea Eagle, Sedge Borer, Crane, Stilt, Red-legged, Tern, Hungarian Duck, Yellow-Headed Wagtail. There is a legend about the formation of the lake. In addition, the inhabitants of Zara district enter the lake to cool off during the summer months.

Crested grebe, stingray, red-necked grebe, mallard, blackbird, and cormorant nest in the lake, Crane, rufous and stilt grebe nest in the lake.
