Legend of Pamukkale

People have been telling the story of the woodcutter beauty for hundreds of years. Long, long ago, there was a poor woodcutter family living at the foot of Çökelez Mountain. The daughter of this family was so ugly that the mothers of boys would change their ways when they saw her. The young girl didn't care about her poverty, but she was fed up with her ugliness. She threw herself into the void from the foot of Çökelez Mountain.

She quickly fell into a pool full of water and sediment, where she remained unconscious in the water for a long time. At that time, this water drowned that ugly girl in beauty. The son of Denizli Bey, who was passing by, saw the beautiful girl in blood. He took the woodcutter girl on his horse and took her home. The girl recovered and they got married. After that day, women started to visit these hot springs to get beautiful. From that day to this day, all women who want to be beautiful throw themselves into this water.
