Abdülmecid Efendi Mansion

Abdülmecid Efendi Mansion, a historic mansion located within the Bağlarbaşı Grove in Kuzguncuk.

It was used as a summer residence by Prince Abdülmecid Efendi; due to his artistic personality, it served as a cultural center where artists, writers, and politicians of the period frequently gathered. The three-story reception building of the mansion, which has survived to the present day, is used as a social facility by the Koç Group.

The monumental entrance gate, covered with ceramic panels, is located on the garden wall. The ceramic inscription on the gate bears the verse “There is no victor but Allah” in Kufic script. Above the mansion's entrance gate, the phrase “Allah commands justice, doing good, and caring for relatives” is written in Kufic script on a blue background.

The exterior facade is divided into rectangular and square panels. The interior of the panels and the underside of the wide eaves of the roof are decorated with penwork. Inside, the tiles on the walls and floors, the fountains, the fireplace, the wall painting by Avni Lifij, the large hall with a marble pool, and the stained glass windows on the upper floor are noteworthy.
