Atatürk and Liberation Monument
Designed by sculptor Prof. Dr. Tankut Öktem, the monument is 30 meters long and 17 meters high. It is composed of figures gathered in three main groups on a pedestal. In the first group, there are cavalry figures symbolizing the liberation of Uşak by the Turkish cavalry. On the pedestal rises the Victory Column symbolizing that the Turkish Nation cannot be captured and will live free forever. In front of this column, there are figures of Atatürk and young girls and boys carrying books on science and art. In the third group, there are female figures symbolizing the heroism and courage of Turkish women and a cart loaded with bullets. Between these figures, there is a 17-meter high block integrated with the pedestal and around it are some of Atatürk's words on art, culture and the Republic. This is the meeting point for most people living in Uşak. You often hear the saying “Let's meet at the statue” in Uşak.
