Demirciönü Nature Reserve
It is within the borders of Akçakoca district. The area is 430 ha and includes forest compartments numbered 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22. It was registered on 12/04/1994. In the area designated as a nature conservation area, Beech, Hornbeam, Chestnut, Oak species are pure in places and mixed in places, forming a forest ecosystem with a rich sub-flora and fauna potential, as well as constituting an example of optimum distribution areas with intact natural characteristics. It is located on the 10th kilometer of the Akçakoca-Ereğli highway from Akçakoca and on the Düzce-Zonguldak provincial border.
In the area designated as a nature conservation area, Beech, Hornbeam, Chestnut, Oak species form pure and mixed meshes in places, and it is a forest ecosystem with a rich sub-flora and fauna potential, as well as constituting an example of optimum distribution areas with intact natural characteristics. Our General Directorate has established this area as a Nature Conservation Area in order to protect the resource features of this rare ecosystem and to provide it to the service of science and education studies and to ensure that its natural characteristics are preserved without deterioration, as well as to provide these areas for the benefit of today's people and future generations.
