Kuruköprü Monumental Museum and Traditional Adana House

The Tanzimat Edict, proclaimed in 1839, allowed non-Muslims to govern themselves and build schools and places of worship. During this period, a significant amount of churches were built in Anatolian cities. According to the nine-line Greek inscription on the marble plate above the west door, the building was built in 1845 by the Greek community. In order to exhibit the archaeological riches of the region, it was decided to establish the Adana Antiquities Museum in 1924 and Halil Kamil Bey, nicknamed "Alyanak", was appointed as the museum director. Cafer Ağa Madrasa, located near the Stone Bridge, was deemed suitable for the museum building. After the building, which became unusable after serving for a while, was demolished, the artifacts in the museum were moved to the Greek Church.
