Martyr Şerife Bacı and Martyrs Monument
Martyr Şerife Bacı represents the heroic Turkish woman who carried ammunition from İnebolu to Kastamonu in the War of Independence. Şerife Bacı came to the front of the barracks with her child on her back and an ox in front of her in December 1921, when harsh winter conditions prevailed, and she froze to death in order to protect her bullets and her child. During the War of Independence, many volunteers, men and women, supported the national struggle by carrying ammunition and ammunition on the İnebolu-Ankara logistics line. Thanks to their support, the fate of the war has changed significantly. Şerife Bacı is one of these volunteer heroes. In order to keep his name and other volunteer heroes alive, Prof. Dr. The Atatürk and Martyr Şerife Bacı Monument, also known as the Kastamonu Turkish Women's Monument, was built by Tankut Öktem in 1990 in Cumhuriyet Square.
