Utku Monument

The monument was built by the famous sculptor Heinrich Krippel between 1934 and 1936 and inaugurated on March 24, 1936 by İsmet İnönü, the prime minister of the time. The sculpture at the Victory Monument consists of two male figures, one lying and the other standing on the rocky terrain. The standing one of these statues symbolizes the Turk who has trampled the enemy underfoot, while the one lying underfoot symbolizes the enemies who invaded our country. On November 6, 1937, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who examined the monument during his visit to Afyonkarahisar, said about the monument, "The monument that best describes the great victory".
