Orhan Bey Mosque (Bursa)
The Orhan Bey Mosque (also known as the Orhan Gazi Mosque) is a historic mosque located in the Osmangazi district of Bursa, Turkey. It is one of the significant examples of early Ottoman architecture and was commissioned by Ottoman sultan Orhan Gazi in the 14th century. The mosque constitutes the main structure of the Orhan Complex (Orhan Külliyesi).
History
The Orhan Bey Mosque was constructed between 1339 and 1340, following the Ottoman conquest of Bursa. It is considered one of the early institutional and urban architectural works of the Ottoman Empire. After its construction, an imaret, a bathhouse, and commercial buildings developed around the mosque, laying the foundation for the formation of Bursa’s Hanlar District.

The Orhan Bey Mosque reflects the simple and functional character of early Ottoman architecture. The building is regarded as an early example of the multi-pier mosque type.
