Sancaklar Mosque

Sancaklar Mosque is a mosque located in the Büyükçekmece district of Istanbul. Designed by Emre Arolat, the mosque was opened in 2013. It has received many awards for its innovative design. It was awarded the ArchDaily Religious Building of the Year Award in 2015. The mosque is located in a natural setting surrounded by rolling hills and greenery in the countryside. The design aimed to integrate with the natural environment and create a calm environment for worship. The exterior facade is made of raw concrete. The interior design is dominated by a simple and contemporary style. There are also steps for prayer in the prayer area. The prayer area has natural lighting coming from the qibla side. There is a separate section and a separate entrance in the mosque for women.
