Adıyaman Museum
Adıyaman Museum has been serving in a single-storey building in the city center since 1982. There are three collections in the museum: archaeological, ethnographic and coin. Many artifacts of the Commagene Kingdom (163 BC-72 AD) are exhibited in the museum. With this feature, the museum differs from other museums. The head of Antiochos I (69-40 BC), the most important ruler of the Commagene Kingdom, was unearthed in the Samsat excavations in 1983 and is one of the most important works of the museum's archeology department.
Another unique work is the cult statue, which was found in 1970 in Kilisik Field of Çıralık Village of Kahta District. The statue, dated to 7500-7000 BC, draws attention with its similarity to the statues in Şanlıurfa Göbekli Tepe.
Flint hand axes, scrapers and cutting tools belonging to the Paleolithic Period, arrowheads made of flint and obsidian belonging to the Neolithic Period, various pots made of terracotta belonging to the Chalcolithic Period, bronze spearheads of the Bronze Age and so on. artifacts, hieroglyphic inscriptions from the Iron Age, various kitchen vessels and ornaments, sculptures, mosaics, inscriptions and various vessels from the Hellenistic Period, statues, inscriptions, mosaics, oil lamps, perfume bottles, various vessels and pots from the Roman Period. ornaments, various pots and ornaments belonging to the Eastern Roman Period, glazed vessels, glass works and ornaments belonging to the Islamic and especially Seljuk Period, various artifacts from the Ottoman Period and many examples of gold, silver and bronze coins are exhibited. . In the ethnographic artifact hall, hand-woven fabrics such as local carpets, rugs and cicim, women's and men's clothes, silver jewelry and copper kitchenware are exhibited.
