In addition to its historical and cultural richness, Hatay, the city of tolerance, has an important place with its natural beauties. About 3300 of the approximately 10000 plant species in our country are endemic, and 300 of the more than 2000 plant species detected in Hatay are endemic. Accordingly, 10% of the endemic plants grown in our country are grown in Hatay. It has been determined that many of the plant species detected in this region, more than 2000, are medicinal and aromatic plants.The building, which hosts Turkey's first Museum of Medicinal and Aromatic plants, which was opened to visitors after the restoration was completed in 2012 in order to introduce some medicinal and aromatic plants found in Hatay, is an old 2-storey Antakya House built in the 19th century. In other words, it is possible to see historical and natural beauties together in this place. 280 medicinal and aromatic plants are presented to the public in the museum. Medicinal and aromatic herbs, ready for use in glass jars and hand-knitted baskets, are exhibited in their final form, such as sage, yarrow, foxglove, lemon balm, basil, laurel, centauryan, black cumin, hartlap, licorice root, licorice root, stone mint, blackberry root, judas leaf, Examples include wormwood, marshmallow rose, hibiscus and immortelle. In addition to plant specimens, you can visit parts of the museum where large-scale photographs, botanical information and what they are used for are available; In the extract rooms on the lower floor, which welcome you with a very pleasant smell when you enter, you can see the oils of the plants and have information about what they are used for.
