Ataturk House Museum

Rize Atatürk House Museum is a museum located in the Müftü Neighborhood of Rize center, built on a building whose construction started in 1920 and completed in 1921. Built according to the characteristics of 20th century Turkish architecture, the building is a three-storey mansion with an interior mansion plan type. Atatürk stayed in this house as the guest of Mehmet Mataracı when he came to Rize on a tour of the country in 1924. The building was donated to the Special Provincial Administration by the Mataracı Family on the 100th anniversary of Atatürk's birth in order to be converted into a museum. After renovation, the building was opened on December 27, 1985 under the name “Rize Atatürk House Museum”. Some items belonging to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk are exhibited in the museum. In addition, ethnographic artifacts from the region are also exhibited in this museum. There is a large garden to the north of the mansion.

Inscriptions and tombstones are exhibited on the ground floor. On the first floor, there are traditional weaving tools and other ethnographic items. On the second floor, Atatürk's personal belongings and photographs related to the Turkish War of Independence are exhibited.
