Aynalıkavak Pavilion

Aynalıkavak Pavilion is a pavilion on the coast of Hasköy, Beyoğlu in Istanbul. When Istanbul was conquered, it was a large grove on the slopes of Okmeydanı. During the reign of Selim I, the coast of Hasköy and Beyoğlu gained importance with the construction of shipyards and this large grove, together with its gardens, began to be known as the “Shipyard Garden”. While Ahmet I was in Edirne, Captain-General Kayserili Halil Pasha ordered the construction of a matetemmuat Kasr-ı Âli (a palace worthy of the Sultan) in the Shipyard Garden, and the first buildings of the palace were completed in 1613.After the 1715 Ottoman Venetian War, the Venetians presented Ahmet III with large, valuable mirrors, and the Sultan had these mirrors placed in various halls and rooms of the Shipyard Palace. For this reason, the palace was initially known as the “Mirrored Poplar Palace” and later as the “Mirrored Poplar Palace”.

At the end of the 18th century, during the reign of Abdülhamit I, the palace was in a dilapidated state and was repaired by Devlet Giray IV and was owned by his descendants until 1923.
