Bozcaada Local History Research Center Museum
Bozcaada Museum is not one of the cold-looking museums we are used to. It is a pleasant museum to visit with its tasteful presentation and interesting explanations of the works. Moreover, it is not a place to be forgotten after visiting it once, because the museum collection does not stand still and is expanding day by day.
The museum, which reveals the history of the island, was established entirely by individual initiatives. When M. Hakan Gürüney's investigative personality and his love for Bozcaada came together, an unusual museum emerged. Ever since Gürüney learned that this small island has an extremely interesting and rich history, he has devoted himself to collecting cultural assets related to the island. In his own words, he forms the memory of Bozcaada in this museum.
You can buy souvenirs related to the island such as books, catalogues, postcards, necklaces, earrings, rings, ceramic mugs made of ancient replica Tenedos coins from the museum store.
Bozcaada Museum also received an award from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO in 2013, on the grounds that "it promotes the Greek culture in the best way outside of Greece, and ensures the spread of a culture of peace between the two peoples".
