Çanakkale Ceramic Museum

Çanakkale Ceramic Museum is the embodiment of a great dream that has been seen for a long time. This journey, which started in 2006 with the efforts of a handful of people, is still a very difficult but enjoyable dream that has voluntarily supported many people from different parts of the city, and that sometimes failed, turning Çanakkale into a "City of Ceramics".

Çanakkale Bosphorus Command handed over the Historical Bath to Çanakkale Municipality to be used as Ceramic Museum. In order to re-function the bath, which has not been used for a long time, and turn it into a museum, survey and restitution projects were prepared, and restoration works were started after the necessary legal permissions were obtained.

Traditional Çanakkale ceramics shaped the main line of the exhibition concept of the museum, which was opened in 2013, and in this process, a program was prepared that allows the addition of archaeological, contemporary and industrial ceramics to the exhibition program. The production processes of the masters who learned and trained Çanakkale Tile with the traditional master-apprentice method and are still producing were also documented and included in the collection.

In the museum-space setup, it was aimed to express the ceramic culture as well as the bath culture together, and for this purpose, transparent display units were created that will allow architectural readings as well as graphic solutions. Care was taken to include not only the plan scheme of the space, but also functional traces and calm decoration elements within the building. While the history of the building, the architecture of the bath and the culture of the bath were explained in general terms with the information boards, the use of the building by the soldiers was supported by imitation objects and included in the exhibition.

Since the day it was founded, the museum has hosted 17 temporary exhibitions and various collections, and many activities such as 2 workshops, 8 fair organizations, 2 ceramic design competitions have been held in order to promote and disseminate ceramics nationally and internationally.
