Cevdet Sunays House

The Cevdet Sunay Museum is a historical site located in the Çaykara district of Trabzon, where Turkey's 5th President, Cevdet Sunay, was born and raised, and which was later restored and turned into a museum.

The museum is located in the village of Ataköy, 21 km from the district of Çaykara. Born in Ataköy in 1900, Cevdet Sunay, a statesman from Trabzon who served as Chief of General Staff, Turkey's 5th President, and Senator at large before passing away in 1982, had his birthplace restored and opened to visitors in 2001 as the Cevdet Sunay House-Museum.

The building is a typical two-story village house with cut stone exterior walls and wooden interior partitions. The lower floor is used as a storage area. The ground floor, which has been converted into a museum, has two doors on the east-west axis. There is a spacious hall at the entrance, arranged in the style of a traditional Black Sea village house living room, with walls decorated with images reflecting scenes from Cevdet Sunay's life. The room arranged as a study contains Cevdet Sunay's books, photographs, certificates, diplomas, and other documents, along with a desk and armchairs. The bedroom is decorated with his own bed, nightstand, and other personal items, while the guest room is also decorated with his original belongings.
