Istanbul Toy Museum
Istanbul Toy Museum was founded by the poet-writer Sunay Akın. The museum opened its doors to visitors on April 23, 2005. The toys exhibited in the museum were acquired at auctions from various parts of the world or purchased from antique shops. The toys exhibited were purchased with the royalties earned by the artist as a result of his individual efforts such as stage shows and theater plays. Each room of the museum has the appearance of a theater stage, and the stage design was designed by artist Ayhan Doğan. The museum became a member of ICOM (International Association of Museums) in 2009. It started to participate in the activities of the European Museums Forum. In 2010 and 2011, it was nominated for an award in the "Best Museum in Europe" competition.
