Kayseri Archeology Museum
The geographical features and climate suitability of Anatolia attracted many peoples here. In time, long herds of peoples who migrated, apart from the natives of Anatolia, were in the region and interacted. This interaction created a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment in Anatolia. Kayseri was also one of the important centers of Anatolia. The history of museums in the city can be started with Osman Hamdi Bey. Osman Hamdi Bey, in a circular issued, demanded that the most important of the movable artifacts in the country's provinces be sent to the capital, Istanbul. He wanted other works to be kept in appropriate school warehouses. In this direction, many works in the city were collected in Kayseri High School. In 1928, the Minister of National Education Esat Bey saw these artifacts during his visit to the city and discussed with the governor Fuat Bey the issue of opening a museum to exhibit the artifacts. With the efforts of Governor Fuat Bey, a place to function as a "Storage Museum" was established in the 1930s. In 1948, Prof. Dr. By Tahsin Özgüç, 22 km from Kayseri. Systematic excavations were carried out in Kültepe Kaniş/Karum in the northeast. The increased inventory number as a result of the excavations led to the establishment of a new museum, and the building that is used today was started to be built in 1965 and opened to visitors on June 26, 1969.
