Kırklareli Governorship Special Administration Culture and Art House
Architectural examples found in various parts of the city are mostly buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Some of them were built by Greek masters in neo-classical style and are still used as residences. The Turkish Hearth Building, which consists of sections reflecting the traditional culture of Kırklareli – today serves as the Culture and Art House belonging to the Special Provincial Administration is located on the left of the road leading to the Yayla Mahallesi square. The 3-storey stone building is striking with its flamboyant architecture and interior decorations. Dr. Known as Peterkov's Mansion, the building passed into the ownership of the People's Party after the establishment of the Republic, and served as the Turkish Hearth until 1932. When the great leader Atatürk visited Kırklareli on December 20, 1930, he addressed the people of Kırklareli in this building and explained his views on "culture and civilization".
