Urfa City Museum

This tower, located in the Beykapısı area of the Urfa city walls, was built during the Crusader period. In the last period of the Ottoman Empire, the gatekeeper was given to the Mahmutoğlu family, so it was known by their name. During the occupation of Urfa by the British on March 24, 1919, although it was requested to be hired by the occupation commander Beddy, this offer was rejected by Mahmudoğlu Mustafa Ağa, the owner of the tower. After being left to its fate for a long time, it was purchased by Şanlıurfa Municipality in 2008 and restored to be used as a "City Museum". The development of Şanlıurfa from its establishment to the present day regarding its historical, geographical, archeological, religious, cultural, social, economic, commercial, transportation, health, architecture, sports, administrative structure and touristic structure, and the information and documents of individuals and events that are important in this development process. It differs from other museums in that it is a museum that includes visual presentations and animations as well as collections and collections. In the City Museum, there are visual presentations through the city model and holograms of the prophets who lived in Şanlıurfa, while all kinds of important and special information, documents, certificates, books, photographs, hand tools, musical instruments, kitchen tools, traditional clothes are exhibited in materials related to handicrafts. Agricultural tools are included in the animations of plants and animals in Urfa.
