Zonguldak Governor Erdoğan Bektaş, Ereğli District Governor İsmail Çorumluoğlu, and Kandilli Mayor Mustafa Aydın, along with a delegation, inspected the area where the varagelin (a transportation route for moving wagons in both directions on sloping terrain) belonging to TTK, estimated to have been built in the 1880s, operates.

Following the inspection, Bektaş told an AA reporter that they had launched efforts to promote the region's important assets, particularly the varagelin, for the benefit of national tourism.

Explaining that coal has been mined in the town of Kandilli for 150 years and that the region holds important cultural values, Bektaş said, "As you know, the Armutçuk facility in Kandilli is a place where coal has been mined for almost 150 years. These coastal structures were built mostly by foreigners in the 1900s, around 1905, to transport coal extracted from the mines by sea. Over time, as the coal and minerals were extracted further inland and at lower levels, they were transported using other mechanisms, so these structures fell into disuse. As they fell out of use, the powerful waves of the Black Sea slowly destroyed them, but there is history and industrial heritage here,“ he said. Bektaş stated that the mayor of Kandilli insisted on certain projects, adding, ”We are looking for a practical project that we can implement.
