Boğazköy Alacahöyük National Park
Boğazköy-Alacahöyük Historical National Park is a protected area established in 1988 on an area of 2600 hectares, within the borders of Boğazkale district of Çorum province. It contains archaeological values from the Hittites, one of the oldest civilizations established in Anatolia. It belongs to Hattusha, the capital of the Hittite state; The city walls, the ground gate, the lion gate and the written rock are among the important works that have survived to the present day. During the excavations in the area, 5 cultural layers were determined. Remains of Byzantine, Roman, Galatian, Phrygian, Hittite, Assyrian and Hatti civilizations have been reached. Hattusha was the capital of the Hittite Empire in the 14th and 13th centuries BC. It has been on the World Cultural Heritage List since 1986. Cuneiform tablets have been on the Memory of the World List since 2001.
