İstiklal Yolu Historical National Park
The Independence Road is a 344 km road starting from the coast of İnebolu and extending to Ankara via Kastamonu and Çankırı, which was used during the Turkish War of Independence to transport the ammunition that arrived in İnebolu by sea to the front with oxcarts. In 2018, 2,357 decares of land was declared a national park.
During the war, ammunition and weapons arriving by ships off the coast of İnebolu were transported to İnebolu by boats and carried to the front by Kastamonu women under difficult conditions.
The 95 km section of the Independence Road between İnebolu and Kastamonu, within the provincial borders of Kastamonu, has been marked and organized as a walking path by the Governorship of Kastamonu. Since 2006, the "Independence Road and Atatürk Walk" from Kastamonu to İnebolu has been organized by the Governorship of Kastamonu.
This historical road was walked for the second time on August 28, 2023 by Ümit Özdağ and Zafer Party members from İnebolu to Ankara with the Independence Road Victory March project.
