Falih Rıfkı Atay Nature Park

Serbs who were arrested as prisoners of war during the Siege of Belgrade by the Ottoman sultan Suleiman I in 1521 were brought to Istanbul and settled in a village within the park borders.

Within the park are the ruins of a church, which is a protected historical structure and was registered as cultural heritage in November 1999.

Falih Rıfkı Atay Nature Park is a nature park located in Sarıyer district of Istanbul. It was established in 2011 and is one of the nine nature parks within the Belgrad Forest. The protected area is named after journalist, writer and politician Falih Rıfkı Atay. The nature park offers opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling and picnics.
