Neşetsuyu Nature Park
Neşet Suyu Nature Park is a nature park located within the borders of Bahçeköy neighborhood of Sarıyer district of Istanbul province, in the Marmara Region of Turkey.
Located 6 km (3.7 mi) northwest of Sarıyer's Bahçeköy neighborhood and next to Falih Rıfkı Atay Nature Park, the park covers an area of 67.47 hectares. It was established in 2011 and is one of the nine nature parks within the Belgrade Forest. The protected area was named after Professor (Ottoman: Müderris) Neşet Bey (1881-1924).
In the southwest of the nature park, there is the Great Bent, located on the Kırkçeşme water channel. There are ruins of a cistern and a prayer area in the park.
In 2000, it was determined that the soil in the park area, one of Istanbul's most popular recreation areas, had begun to harden after being exposed to various influences over the years. It was determined that the growth of tree roots stopped and the population of bacteria and fungi increased due to lack of oxygen in the soil. The fallen leaves lost their ability to penetrate the hardened soil and nourish the soil. The park area was closed to picnics until 2005.
