A significant part of Şaban Castle Nature Park is within the borders of Güce district, but some parts of the park remain within the borders of Tirebolu district.

The region where Şaban Castle Nature Park is located was one of the regions where Ottoman and Russian forces clashed intensely during World War I. Since 1915, wide defense lines began to be established in this region. After the successful defense of the Ottoman forces in this region for two years, the Russian forces began to retreat, and the Ottoman forces began to take back the lost lands. Today, there are 19 martyrs' graves and trenches from the war period in the nature park.
