Hidiv Grove

Hidiv Grove, officially managed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is a historic grove and recreational area located in the Beykoz district on the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey. Surrounding the historic Hidiv Pavilion, the grove is one of the city’s most prominent green spaces overlooking the Bosphorus.

The grove was originally developed in the late 19th century as part of the estate of Abbas Hilmi Pasha, the last Khedive of Egypt. Designed with landscaped gardens, walking paths, terraces, and diverse plant life, Hidiv Grove reflects the garden aesthetics of the late Ottoman period combined with European landscape design influences.

Covering a large elevated area, the grove offers panoramic views of the Bosphorus, making it a popular destination for photography, sightseeing, and outdoor leisure. Visitors can enjoy walking trails, resting areas, cafés, and open green spaces surrounded by rich vegetation and mature trees.

Today, Hidiv Grove functions as both a cultural heritage site and a public recreational area. Frequently visited by local residents and tourists alike, it is considered a key destination for those seeking nature, history, and scenic Bosphorus views within Istanbul’s urban landscape.
