Yamanlardağı Nature Park
The Nature Park was registered as a protected area by the ministry in 2011. It is located within the Yamanlardağ Important Natural Area (KBA). The KBA, a significant part of which is covered with red pine (Pinus brutia) forests and maquis, hosts a wide vegetation mosaic ranging from dry maquis communities to chestnut forests. Dwarf maquis communities, which cover large areas in the lower regions of the mountain, give way to red pine and black pine (Pinus nigra) forests, respectively, as you reach higher altitudes. Hairy oak (Quercus cerris) and downy oak (Quercus pubescens) are scattered throughout the larch forests; In more humid areas, flowering ash (Fraxinus ornus) is found. The rocks in the area contain wildlife; Caves are important habitats for many bat species. The KBA constitutes the northernmost known distribution of the rare species of hyena (Hyaena hyaena) in the Aegean Region. In addition, the caves in the area contain the desert long-winged bat (Miniopterus schreibersii), the long-legged bat (Myotis capaccinii) and the globally endangered Mediterranean horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus euryale), the big horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum), the little horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus hipposideros) and It is important for the little mouse-eared bat (Myotis blythii). It is possible to observe the Falco falcon (Falco eleonorae) in Yamanlardağ Nature Park, especially during the summer. It is also a very suitable area for forest bird observation.
