Tahtali Pond
With the completion of the Tahtalı Pond Nature Park project, which is among the 41 election promises of Derince Mayor Zeki Aygün, tourism is promised to increase in the region. With the facilities said to be built in the region, it is aimed to be the new attraction area of the city. Within the scope of the Nature Park project, Derince Municipality continues maintenance and organisation works on the roads in and around Tahtalı Pond.
Tahtalı Pond has historical ruins as well as picnic areas around it. Near the entrance of Üçtepeler Village, there is a tumulus which is believed to be the tomb of King Nikomedes, the founder of Izmit.
