Alipaşa Bazaar

Ali Pasha Bazaar is a bazaar that was built to provide foundation income for the charity of Semiz Ali Pasha, who was the vizier between 1561 and 1565, in Babaeski. It is understood from Tezkiretü'l-Ebniye that its architect was Mimar Sinan. Here, the building is registered as "Ali Pasha Bazaar and Caravanserai in Edirne". In the Edirne Evkaf Book dated 1568/69, the number of shops in this bazaar is stated as 211+25. Evliya Çelebi states that Ali Pasha Bazaar has gates like castle gates at both ends, its length is 1000 steps, and there are 360 shops on both sides. The top of the bazaar is covered with masonry vaults and is covered with lead. Evliya Çelebi also writes that this bazaar was built by Mimar Sinan.
