Sözenler Vezirköprü Semaver

For thousands of years, Turks have been drinking tea, which they obtained from various herbs and tree leaves, sometimes with milk, sometimes by adding other seasonings, but especially by boiling them in water. The samovar, which has become an integral part of the tea culture, has been seen in and around the Urals since the 18th century. It was developed in the Tula Region. It got its name from the combination of the Russian words “samo” meaning “by itself” and “varit” meaning “to boil”. Thanks to the Tatars who migrated to Anatolia, it acquired a new homeland, especially around Vezirköprü and Havza. Samovars in Vezirköprü are made as flat type. Round type samovar is known as Russian type samovar. The samovars, which are handcrafted and delicately processed by the samovars, are mostly produced from galvanized sheet, copper and brass. Vezirköprü Samovar was also registered as Geographical Indication in Geographical Type with the decision numbered 299 on 26.09.2017.
