Hüsrev
Hacı Abdullah Hüsrev was born in Çayeli in 1904. He worked in farming, agriculture, and animal husbandry. He planted the seeds of the tea that we serve in our restaurants today on Kuspa Hill in Çayeli. He opened a grocery store in 1928. Hacı Fahri Hüsrev was born in 1936. He started as a dishwasher in the cafeteria at Istanbul Technical University and worked his way up through various positions. In 1958, he returned to Çayeli and converted his father's grocery store into a breakfast shop called “Temiz Süt Evi” (Clean Milk House). Hacı Fahri Hüsrev opened his first real shop under the Çayeli Municipality. His restaurant was named “Temiz Köfte Salonu” (Clean Meatball Restaurant). While attracting the interest and admiration of the local people with his meatballs, he discovered sugar beans during a trip to Erzurum/İspir and brought them to his shop. The dried beans, cooked entirely according to his own recipe, attracted the interest and admiration of guests from all over the world, going beyond the borders of Çayeli. Dried beans had now become the favorite dish of this shop. So much so that the dried beans he cooked would henceforth be known as Çayeli dried beans, a name that has endured to this day. Fahri Hüsrev practiced his profession in this establishment for a full 30 years, turning it into a place renowned throughout Turkey. For Fahri Hüsrev, who was struggling to accommodate guests coming from far and wide, the time had long since come to move to a larger location.
