Historical Rüstempaşa Caravanserai
Rüstem Pasha Caravanserai is a magnificent 16th century caravanserai in the center of Edirne. It was built by Mimar Sinan in 1554 by Damat Rüstem Pasha, the son-in-law and grand vizier of Kanuni. It consists of two parts called Büyük Han and Küçük Han (or Deveci Han). It has two floors. It has 39 rooms on the first floor and 41 rooms on the second floor. There are 21 shops on the front facades. The building, which was restored in 1972, is now used as a hotel. The restoration in 1972 was awarded the Aga Khan Architecture Award in 1980.
