Long Bazaar
Tradesmen started to look to the future with more confidence with the new arrangement in Long Bazaar, where traditional professions from shoemaking to herbalists, from blacksmithing to wicker knitting are kept alive.
Kırşehir Mayor Yaşar Bahçeci gave information about the works carried out and said that they prepared a project in consultation with the tradesmen in order to revive the historical Long Bazaar, which is one of the oldest in the city, has started to lose its feature in recent years.
Stating that their aim is to restore the bazaar to its good old days, Bahçeci said, "We prepared a beautiful project. We made the exteriors of 107 buildings here, the interior of the bazaar and partially the top cover. We made it very beautiful with flowers and seating. Our shopkeepers were also extremely happy with this work. " said.
Stating that the culture of Ahi tradesmen is kept alive in the bazaar, Bahçeci said, "We have tradesmen from all professions here. Kırşehir is the capital of the Ahi community. Our tradesmen here are also Ahi tradesmen. We invite everyone to our historical Long Bazaar to see its new face and shop." he said.
Emphasizing that they are making an effort to keep the vast and universal values of the Ahi community alive, Bahçeci stated that the renovation of the Ahi Evran Complex Project and the Long Bazaar proceeds as continuing parts of a whole.
Pointing out that their goal is to make Ahi shopkeepers smile, Bahçeci said:
"We are the city of Ahi. We make our plans regarding the Ahi community as parts of a whole. The Ahi Evran Complex Project, the works in Kalehöyük and the historical Long Bazaar are all parts of the whole. All of them complement each other. When our bazaar became beautiful, the number of people who came to shop increased a lot. The shops also gained value. Our shopkeepers are extremely happy that the bazaar is back to its beautiful and glorious days."
Mustafa Kamalı, one of the shopkeepers of the bazaar, stated that 25 years passed here and said that they experienced good developments with the arrangements made in the historical bazaar.
Kamali said, "Our bazaar has a standard customer. With the arrangement of the bazaar, different customers started to come. Now they come just to see Long Bazaar. People coming from outside the city and abroad also started to give very positive reactions on this issue."
Spicemaker Şükrü Güvenç said that the bazaar, where he has been a tradesman for 35 years, has been beautified with the work done and that it has regained its old days.
