Büyükada Hesed Le Avraam Synagogue
The synagogue was built in the early years of the 20th century on the plot of land owned by Avram Arslan Efendi Fresko, in consideration of the worship needs of a large Jewish community who went to Büyükada for the countryside, and was named Hesed le Avraam, meaning the goodness of Avram, to honor the person who donated the land. The synagogue was inaugurated on Passover in 1904 and officially opened on Friday, April 1, 1904, the second day of the holiday, with a magnificent ceremony. The Büyükada Synagogue was designated as a place of worship for the Jewish nation by a decree dated August 3, 1906.
