Kuzguncuk Bet Yaakov Synagogue
As a result of demographic fluctuations, the decline in the Jewish population of Kuzguncuk made it difficult to even have a minyan (a congregation of 10 adult males required for congregational prayer in Judaism) in the packed synagogue. It was only after 1977, thanks to the unforgettable efforts of Albert Levi, then president of the Kuzguncuk Synagogue Foundation, followed by Nisim Albala and Rober Abudara, that former Kuzguncuk residents from other parts of the city, or their children, became interested in the synagogue and came here on Saturdays and holidays to pray. The synagogue underwent a major renovation in 1983.
