Hardaliye

A type of non-alcoholic beverage made from ripe grapes in Hardaliye, Kırklareli and its surroundings. Kırklareli Hardaliyesi was registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and received geographical indication. In its production, ripe grapes, cherry and quince leaves, crushed black mustard seeds are used. It is a fermented beverage, but the mustard seeds put in it prevent the formation of alcohol; It is consumed as a non-alcoholic grape drink without fermenting in this way. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, during his visit to Kırklareli on December 20, 1930, tasted hardaliye and advised that this drink should be made into a national production. In 2010, a group of entrepreneurs established a hardaliye factory in Kırklareli Kızılcıkdere Organized Industrial Site, and mass production was started from traditional production.
