The features of the world-famous Ispir Bean are that it cooks early, does not peel off, and is an incremental - fertile - bean in terms of both caliber and structure. It is easy to digest and has a unique taste. It is 8-9 mm in size –in caliber- and the annual production amount varies between 300-500 tons. İspir dry Beans is produced under very difficult conditions because the land is mountainous and machine agriculture is not widespread. The sowing process generally begins in May with the ploughing of the fields. No fertilizers or chemicals other than animal manure are used in the cultivation of beans. After the hoeing process of the beans, which are hoeed in June, pole-hoeing is started. Ispir Bean, which requires a very gentle stage to grow, needs to be watered periodically, once a week. In order to get a good yield, it is necessary to irrigate more frequently, especially at flower time, and definitely not to interrupt the irrigation process. According to the seasonal conditions, the harvest time is like the end of September or the beginning of October. Harvesting is done by hand picking, as mechanized farming is not common. After the beans are removed from the field, they are manually sorted one by one and left to dry. After drying, the beans are separated from their grains. After separation, it is sieved with the help of a sieve. As a final process, foreign materials and small grain beans are removed. The nutritional values ​​of İspir Beans are very high. 100 grams of Ispir Beans contain an average of 24 grams of protein, 330 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and 20.2 carbohydrates. It also contains phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium and vitamins B1, B2, B3 and E. İspir Beans also have many health benefits. Thanks to its high potassium content, its regular consumption reduces high blood pressure. It also significantly lowers the level of bad cholesterol in the blood. Ispir Bean also has the feature of controlling the blood sugar level in the body. Therefore, diabetic patients can easily consume it. Thanks to its rich fiber content, it is among the foods that should be consumed by people who have problems with large intestine and hemorrhoids.
