Snow Halva
Snow halvah, which is indispensable for the winter months in many Aegean provinces of Turkey, especially in Izmir, is prepared by adding syrup to the freshly fallen snow. Snow halva, one of the desserts from the Ottoman period, is transported from the peaks of Beydağ and Bozdağ, which are the rare places in İzmir where it snows, to the warm streets of İzmir and takes its place on the counters of peddlers.
