Golcuk Hot Spring

It is known that the Yazlık thermal spring was first built during the Roman period and was used as a health center during the Byzantine and Ottoman periods. The thermal spring was a center that provided cultural and health services to the ancient settlements of Astakoz, Eribolos, Heraklion and the surrounding small metropolises established in the southern region of Nicomedia. The Roman baths, one of the most important structures of this center, are places where sports, entertainment and conversations were held for all segments of the society according to gender distinction. They are also known as living complexes with libraries, gymnasiums (buildings where young people receive physical and social education), fountains with statues called Nympheum and shops.

It is a healing water that contains minerals that have the ability to treat many diseases, especially sedative analgesic endocrine function regulator, skin diseases (psoriasis, etc.), eye diseases, rheumatic disorders, stomach diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, asthma diseases. Right next to the wall on the east side of Ilıca, there is a spring called “Eye Water” which is said to be good for eye diseases.
