Düsseldorf Airport Until March 2013, Düsseldorf International Airport is the international airport of Düsseldorf, the capital of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is about 7 kilometers north of Düsseldorf city center and about 20 kilometers southwest of Essen in the Rhine-Ruhr region, Germany's largest metropolitan area. Düsseldorf is Germany's fourth largest airport and served around 8 million passengers in 2021. It is the hub of Eurowings and the focal city of several airlines. The airport has three passenger terminals and two runways and can handle wide-body aircraft up to the Airbus A380.
